ABSTRACT

OBJECTIVE:To improve the method for the determination of 2 main components in Ticarcillin disodium and potas-sium clavulanate for injection. METHODS:HPLC was performed on the column of Waters XBridgeTM C18 with mobile phase of 0.01 mol/L ammonium dibasic phosphate solution(pH 7.0)-menthol(80:20,V/V)at a flow rate of 1.0 mL/min,the detection wave-length was 220 nm, column temperature was 30 ℃, and injection volume was 20 μL. RESULTS:The linear range was 1.95-195.22 μg/mL for ticarcillin (r=0.9999) and 0.12-12.18 μg/mL for clavulanate(r=0.9999);RSDs of precision, stability (under 4 ℃) and reproducibility tests were lower than 1.0%;recoveries were 99.3%-100.5%(RSD=0.4%,n=9) and 99.2%-101.0%(RSD=0.7%,n=9). CONCLUSIONS:The method is rapid, accurate and reliable, and can be used for the determination of 2 main components in Ticarcillin disodium and potassium clavulanate for injection.

ABSTRACT

Objective To evaluate the interference of 13 kinds of β‐lactam antibiotics in fructosamine detection .Methods A se‐ries of solution of antimicrobial drugs were formulated with water for injection ,and added into the mixture fresh serum volume by 5% .Interfere with antimicrobial drugs on the test results of fructosamine were evaluated .Results When the blood concentrations of cefathiamidine and ticarcillin sodium/clavulanate potassium were up to 37 .5 mg/L and 247 .5 μg/mL respectively ,they began to produce positive interference on fructosamine detection .However ,the degree of interference was not correlated to the serum concen‐tration of fructosamine .Conclusion Cephathiamidine and ticarcillin sodium/clavulanate potassium have positive interference on fructosamine detection .

ABSTRACT

The aim of this study was to determine antimicrobial susceptibility of recent clinical Stenotrophomonas maltophilia isolates from Korea, and to compare the activity levels of several combinations of antimicrobials. A total of 206 non-duplicate clinical isolates of S. maltophilia was collected in 2010 from 11 university hospitals. Antimicrobial susceptibility testing was performed using the Clinical Laboratory Standards Institute agar dilution method. In vitro activity of antimicrobial combinations was tested using the checkerboard method. The susceptibility rates to trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and minocycline were 96% and 99%, respectively. The susceptibility rate to levofloxacin was 64%. All of four antimicrobial combinations showed synergy against many S. maltophilia isolates. A combination of trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole plus ticarcillin-clavulanate was most synergistic among the combinations. None of the combinations showed antagonistic activity. Therefore, some of the combinations may be more useful than individual drugs in the treatment of S. maltophilia infection. Further clinical studies are warranted to validate our in vitro test results.

ABSTRACT

Eighty-six patients with community-acquired pneumonia who suffered from cerebrovascular sequelae were admitted to hospital from 2005 to 2007.Patients were randomized into ticarcillin sodium/clavulanate potassium group and cefuroxime Sodium group.Sputum culture was performed for each case before and after treatment.Gram-negative bacilli accounted for 74%of infection, and the most common pathogens were klebsiella pneumoniae(26%)and Escherichia coli(14%).The response rates in two groups were 93%and 72%,respectively(χ2=6.54,P<0.05).Bacteria eradication rates in two groups were 90%and 62%,respectively(χ2=6.00,P<0.05).Ticarcillin sodium and clavulanate potassium is an effective antibiotic for community-acquired pneumonia in elderly patients with cerebrovascular sequelae.
